Leesburg Composite Squadron Volunteers at the National Air and Space Museum Become a Pilot Day and Aviation Display. Cadets staff "discovery stations" and assist in spectator flight line safety

VIRGINIA - The Leesburg Composite Squadron participated in the National Air and Space Museum Become a Pilot Family Day and Aviation Display at the Udvar-Hazy Center located in Chantilly, VA. Cadets manned discovery stations throughout the museum that provided hands on aviation oriented activities for children. The discovery stations included: Forces of Flight, Cessna 150 static display, Identify the Parts of an Airplane Art Activity, and Design Your Own Squadron Patch Art Activity. In addition to manning the discovery stations, cadets assisted the museum staff in the setup and cleanup of the event. Cadets and Senior Members from the Winchester, Prince William, and Fredericksburg Squadrons also participated and served as volunteers.

At the conclusion of the activities, cadets protected the flight line as many of the 60 military and civilian aircraft on display taxied out to nearby Dulles International Airport. A Civil Air Patrol GA-8 Airvan flown by the National Capital Wing was among the aircraft on display.
